In a recent chat with Views, Zendaya opened up about her thoughts on what a “perfect marriage” really means. The question comes as fans continue speculating that she and her Spider-Man co-star Tom Holland may have secretly tied the knot. Her take? There’s no such thing as a “perfect marriage.”
“I don’t know if there’s any such as a ‘perfect marriage,’” she told the French magazine. “But I’d say like people who, I don’t know, this is a corny answer, seem like best friends.”
While Tom Holland and Zendaya have stayed quiet on the marriage rumors, fans have been picking up on subtle hints—like Zendaya consistently stepping out in bridal-style white gowns at recent premieres.
The speculation only intensified after her stylist, Law Roach, hinted that the couple may have already said “I do” in private. Speaking with Access Hollywood in March, Roach said, “The Wedding already happened. You missed it.”
Despite the strong place Zendaya and Tom Holland are in now, their story didn’t exactly start off effortlessly. In fact, Holland once admitted their first meeting was pretty “embarrassing” for him.
The two first crossed paths in 2016 during a chemistry read for Spider-Man: Homecoming. Since they were set to play love interests, the audition included testing their on-screen connection to see if their romance would feel believable.
But for Holland, keeping his composure wasn’t so easy. “My first time meeting with Zendaya was very embarrassing, actually, for me,” he told The Hollywood Reporter in 2016. “It was just one of those moments where it wasn’t my smoothest moment.”
