Pop Smoke’s Family Unveils Coffee Shop Dedicated to the Late Star

Six years after his passing, Pop Smoke’s family is set to launch a coffee shop in New York City as a tribute to the Brooklyn star’s legacy.

The café, named Pop’s Place, will be based in Canarsie—the very neighborhood where the late rapper was raised.

Pop Smoke’s brother, Obasi Jackson, shared the news on Instagram earlier this month, also putting out a call for skilled baristas to come on board.

“We’re looking for experienced baristas ready to be part of something special. Serious inquiries only,” he wrote.

Although plans for the shop are already in motion, the official address, menu, and grand opening date have yet to be confirmed.

A free pop-up event scheduled for Tuesday (March 31) will act as a soft launch for Pop’s Place at 1454 Rockaway Parkway, where guests can shop exclusive merch and get a taste of the menu.

“We chose Tuesday with intention,” the Instagram post read. “Pop was born on a Tuesday, so every time we come together like this, it means something. This is not just a pop up. This is how we keep his name alive. If you know, you’re already pulling up. If you don’t, this is where you need to be.”

Pop Smoke, born Bashar Barakah Jackson, was tragically killed in February 2020 at just 20 years old during a home invasion in Los Angeles. Last February, Corey Walker—the final defendant tied to the case—was sentenced to 29 years in prison.
