Last year, Lil Tjay called out Offset, accusing him of owing $10K—a debt the former Migos rapper allegedly never paid.
On the night of April 6, Offset was reportedly shot outside a casino in Florida. Authorities say the incident happened following a fight, and he is currently in stable condition at a nearby hospital. Details surrounding what led to the altercation are still unclear. By the next morning, news broke that Lil Tjay had been arrested. He was charged with disorderly conduct and driving without a valid license, but notably, none of the charges were connected to the shooting.
His lawyer, Dawn M. Florio, has since stepped in to shut down speculation linking Lil Tjay to the incident.
“We are issuing this release in regards to false rumors that Lil Tjay was involved in a shooting which occurred at the Valet Area of the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood which resulting in non-life threatening injuries to Offset, formerly a member of Migos,” she stated. “Lil Tjay has not been shot, nor has Lil Tjay been charged with any shooting. Any reporting to the contrary is false. We encourage people to consult trusted news sources, and to verify the accuracy of any reporting, before reflexively sharing or repeating baseless rumors.”
Lil Tjay and Offset’s tension is nothing new. Early last year, Lil Tjay publicly accused Offset of owing him $10K and even alleged he had a gambling problem. The situation quickly escalated into a heated exchange online, with DJ Akademiks later hinting at some intense DMs between the two.
During a recent livestream, Akademiks revealed that a Lil Tjay interview is on the way. According to him, he asked the 24-year-old about what went down when he tried to collect the money from Offset—and the response wasn’t exactly friendly.
“He said Offset DMd him and said, ‘N***a, get it back in blood,'” Akademiks shared in a clip posted by Akademiks TV. “That’s literally what he said, I swear.”
