Ruby Rose Says She Reported Sexual Assault Claim Against Katy Perry to Police

After accusing Katy Perry of assault during her 20s, Ruby Rose, now 40, says she has taken the matter to the police.

Following her initial claims on Threads, one user pushed back, accusing her of spreading “BS” due to the lack of formal charges and pointing out her past criticism of Perry in 2017. Rose responded by explaining that she hadn’t previously pursued legal action, adding that she also didn’t report other alleged assaults by different individuals.

“She is more than welcome to sue me (she won’t, because it happened, I have photos and it was literally in public and witnessed by multiple people),” Rose wrote. “Plus there is so much more that happened in the years leading up to her silly song she won’t want me discussing. The psychological manipulation was strong with that one.”

When another user questioned why she would go public without filing a report, Rose later replied with an update, writing, “Just left the police station.”

In follow-up posts, she kept it brief, writing, “I did it.” She also asked “any good witches, or spirit folk” to “cast a few protective spells” for her.

“I said names inside the station that hold much more power than me and frankly, freak me out,” she added. “I feel very relieved so far but have no expectations. I do however want to assure people that I am in no way suicidal, if you know what I mean. Nor do I take drugs, or have any health conditions.”

She also shared that she plans to speak more about the reporting process once she feels ready.

“I will just say that I was surprised to find the reporting process to be ok, it was when the officer would leave the room that my body would collapse into a ball,” she wrote. “It was like having narcolepsy. I did not want to burden anyone by taking them with me but I highly recommend others do.”

As reported by Variety, Perry’s representatives have strongly denied the allegations, calling them “categorically false.”

“The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous reckless lies,” the rep said. “Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named.”

The claims first surfaced after Rose responded to a Threads post from the Complex Music account about Perry reacting to Justin Bieber’s Coachella set. In her reply, Rose made the allegation involving Perry, whom she had been connected to as far back as 2012.

“Katy Perry sexual assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne,” Rose wrote. “Who gives a shit what she thinks.”

She later shared that she was in her “early 20s” at the time and said it took “almost 2 decades” to find the strength to speak out publicly.

Rose initially stated she had no plans to file a report, but the support she received appears to have influenced her decision to go to the police.

Rose, who came out as a lesbian in her teens, has previously spoken about facing difficult and unsafe working conditions during her time on Batwoman. She said she chose to leave the show because of the environment, while her former co-star Camrus Johnson claimed she was fired. Warner Bros. Television also stated that her exit followed “multiple complaints about her workplace behavior.”
