D4vd’s Attorneys Speak Out After Arrest, Say Evidence Will Prove He “Did Not Murder” Celeste Rivas Hernandez

D4vd has been taken into custody in connection with the death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez, the teen whose body was discovered in a Tesla last September. Despite the arrest, his legal team is standing firm on his innocence.

In a statement to TMZ, attorneys for David Burke—including Blair Berk, Marilyn Bednarski, and Regina Peter—insisted that the facts will ultimately clear their client.

“Let us be clear: the actual evidence in this case will show that David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez and he was not the cause of her death,” they said. “There has been no indictment returned by any grand jury in this case and no criminal complaint filed.”

They also emphasized that D4vd has only been detained on suspicion and vowed to “vigorously defend” him moving forward.

On Thursday (April 16), LAPD officials confirmed the arrest of the 21-year-old artist, who is currently being held without bail. Authorities noted that the case will be submitted to the District Attorney’s office on Monday for a decision on whether charges will be filed.

The investigation dates back to September, when officers responded to reports of a foul odor coming from a vehicle at a tow yard on Mansfield Avenue. Upon inspection, detectives discovered what were initially described as possible human remains inside the car, which were later identified as Rivas Hernandez.

That same month, LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division executed a search warrant at a residence tied to the case, recovering several pieces of evidence, though specific details about those items have not been disclosed.
