‘Call of Duty: Vanguard’ Leak Teases Possible Surprise Drop on Xbox Game Pass

Call of Duty: Vanguard could be the next title heading to Xbox Game Pass—and the timing isn’t going unnoticed. Just days before Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is set to arrive on the platform, a fresh Microsoft Store listing is hinting that Vanguard might be next in line.

The clue came from an unexpected source. Vanguard recently got a new PC version listed on the Microsoft Store, something it didn’t have before. Up until now, the 2021 title had only been available on consoles within the Xbox ecosystem.

The move would line up perfectly with Microsoft’s bigger push for Xbox Game Pass. April is already packed with major titles like Final Fantasy IV, Hades II, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, and EA Sports NHL 26. Then comes Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on April 17, bringing its full experience—campaign, multiplayer, and Special Ops—to cloud, console, and PC.

This rollout has been building ever since Microsoft finalized its Activision Blizzard acquisition. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 became the first entry in the franchise to launch straight into Game Pass on day one, while Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is already getting ongoing updates through the service. Season 03 recently dropped, adding new maps, weapons, and the Ashwood Survival Zombies mode.

That said, a Microsoft Store listing isn’t the same as an official confirmation. While reports suggest that these kinds of backend updates often signal a Game Pass release in the works, it doesn’t always mean it’s happening immediately.

Still, Call of Duty: Vanguard would be a logical addition. Developed by Sledgehammer Games, the 2021 title took the series back to a World War II setting. With the studio expected to return to the franchise in the coming years, bringing Vanguard to Game Pass could be an easy way to reintroduce it to players.
