Solange wants fans to know she’s not living on a nonstop vacation — even if her Instagram feed says otherwise.
On Monday (May 25), the Grammy-winning R&B singer shared a Memorial Day weekend photo dump on Instagram featuring herself and Megan Thee Stallion enjoying time by the lake. While Solange’s recent posts have shown plenty of travel and outdoor moments, she clarified things after a fan assumed she was constantly away on vacation.
“I feel like you’re always on vacation….and I feel like it’s exactly where you should be,” one commenter wrote.
The comment led the When I Get Home artist to explain that her lifestyle is actually intentional. Solange shared that she chose to live near “hiking trails, rivers, and the sea” so she could actively make nature and exercise part of her overall wellness routine.
“so what u guys are seeing are usually 2-6 hour trips/hikes to state parks or city owned nature trails right by the crib or nature reserve (pictured here) that i am hiking or swimming or watching birds…then i take my a** back to work the next day lol,” Solange continued.
“I wrote this long ass paragraph to jusss encourage all my beautiful black and brown people to occupy this land. i loveee seeing us on the trails and experiencing all the ways to witness all of gods glory,” Solange added.
Solange’s deep connection to nature could possibly trace back to her roots, at least according to her mother, Tina Knowles.
Back in April, Tina commented on a post showing Solange debuting a new haircut, writing, “You look like a beautiful Egyptian Goddess.”
She then added, “Which is very appropriate since you were conceived on a cruise sailing down the Nile in Egypt.”
Tina Knowles is also the mother of Beyoncé.
