Sadie Soverall is reportedly the latest star being linked to Brady Corbet’s increasingly buzzworthy next movie, a mysterious “X-rated” epic that already boasts names like Selena Gomez, Cate Blanchett, and Michael Fassbender.
According to Deadline, Soverall is being considered for a lead role in the project, which is rumored to carry the title The Origin of the World. While sources say her deal has not officially closed yet, Corbet is reportedly eager for her to take on the role.
Representatives for both Soverall and Corbet declined to comment on the reports.
Details surrounding the film are still being kept tightly under wraps, though Brady Corbet has started teasing what audiences can expect. While appearing at Dublin’s Storyhouse Screenwriting Festival, the director explained that the movie explores “American mysticism” and “the history of the occult in America.”
Corbet also revealed that the project is based on a massive 200-page screenplay. He described the film as an “X-rated” feature stretching across several time periods, beginning in the 19th century and continuing into modern times, with a large portion of the story reportedly set during the 1970s.
“The film is really, really genre-defying,” Corbet previously said about the ambitious project.
For Sadie Soverall, the rumored casting marks yet another major career opportunity as she continues building momentum in Hollywood. The actress recently secured the lead role in Every Year After, the upcoming Prime Video adaptation of the BookTok-favorite novel Every Summer After. The series is expected to premiere at Tribeca before arriving on streaming in June.
Soverall will also appear in the upcoming romantic comedy Finding Emily. Some viewers may already recognize her from Saltburn and Fate: The Winx Saga.
