Less than a week into July, Shakira achieved a major milestone in Latin music history on Spotify.
As of July 5, the Colombian superstar surpassed 100 million monthly listeners on the streaming platform, making her the first female Latin artist to reach the landmark figure. Data from ChartMasters shows that the 4-time Grammy winner’s profile recorded 100,415,993 monthly listeners, ranking her eighth among all artists worldwide, behind names including Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, The Weeknd, and others.
Shakira’s rise on Spotify’s monthly listeners chart has been largely fueled by “Dai Dai,” her official 2026 FIFA World Cup anthem with Burna Boy.
Released on May 14, just one month before the tournament kicked off, “Dai Dai” marks Shakira’s return to creating a song for the global football event following her first World Cup anthem, “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa),” which was released in 2010.
Shakira’s latest album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, achieved major success, becoming the most-streamed album of the year within its first 24 hours and later earning the Grammy Award for Best Latin Album.
The album’s supporting world tour also reached historic heights, bringing in more than $421.6 million from 86 stadium performances and attracting over 3.3 million fans. According to Rolling Stone, the tour became the highest-grossing Latin music tour ever by a female artist. On March 1 of this year, Shakira performed in front of more than 400,000 people at Mexico City’s Zócalo, a crowd the city’s government described as the largest ever gathered at the historic plaza, according to Billboard.
“Today, I feel a mix of excitement, nostalgia, and gratitude. Today is our last day here in Mexico, my home,” the singer told the crowd. “This is a love and friendship story I have with Mexico that can’t be compared to anything. Thank you for all the excitement, all the joy you’ve made me feel. There’s definitely no better reunion than that of a little she-wolf with her Mexican pack here today at the Zócalo. Forever, we are one.”
