Usher had an unexpected surprise during his concert at Northwest Stadium near Washington, D.C., on Friday (July 10) after spotting a very familiar face in the audience.
The unforgettable moment happened during his performance of “Nice & Slow” on the R&B Tour. Mid-song, Usher suddenly stopped, looked into the crowd in disbelief, and exclaimed into the microphone, “Is that Dave Chappelle?”
Moments later, the cameras zoomed in to confirm it was indeed the legendary comedian, sending the entire arena into a frenzy.
Chappelle was seen standing among the crowd with a glass of brown liquor in one hand and a cigarette in the other, smiling as he soaked in the moment.
One of the highlights of Usher’s performance is his signature “Nice & Slow” crowd walk, where he strolls through the audience handing out Usher Bucks—custom-made faux currency stored inside a red Goyard bag.
Dave Chappelle decided to have a little fun with the prop. He reached into the bag, grabbed a handful of the Usher Bucks, and tossed them into the air, sending the nearby crowd into a frenzy as the arena burst into laughter.
Without missing a beat, Usher continued his performance of “Nice & Slow” before the DJ transitioned into “It Depends,” shifting the spotlight to co-headliner Chris Brown. The R&B Tour, also known as the Raymond & Brown Tour, kicked off in late June and is scheduled to continue through December.
Usher and Chappelle have shared the stage before. Back in 2017, the singer made a surprise appearance during one of the comedian’s shows at Radio City Music Hall.
The R&B Tour is set to continue through the remainder of the year and has already produced several memorable moments. One of the most talked-about performances has been Chris Brown’s provocative rendition of “Take You Down.”
During a viral performance on June 26, Brown handcuffed a female fan to a pole while singing and dancing around her. After releasing her, he led her to a bed onstage, where he acted out a suggestive routine that simulated conceiving a child with her.
