Vivienne Jolie-Pitt Joins Siblings in Filing Petition to Remove ‘Pitt’ From Last Name

Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, the 18-year-old daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, has filed a legal petition to remove her father’s surname from her name.

According to court documents obtained by People, Vivienne is seeking to change her name to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie, citing “personal” reasons for dropping the “Pitt” surname. She is now the fourth of Jolie and Pitt’s six children to take steps toward making a similar legal change.

Shiloh filed her paperwork on her 18th birthday in 2024. Zahara recently moved closer to removing the surname after completing a legal requirement that involved publishing an announcement in the Los Angeles Daily Journal. Maddox also requested to officially change his name to Maddox Chivan Jolie after previously being credited as “Maddox Jolie” while working as an assistant director on his mother’s latest film, Couture, according to TMZ.

In 2024, Vivienne was also credited as “Vivienne Jolie” in the Playbill for the Broadway musical The Outsiders.

“If people knew the whole truth, they would have more sympathy for the children and respect them,” a source close to Jolie told People. “The fact they aren’t speaking ill or sharing things publicly only shows their decency.”

“Angie hasn’t been fighting and isn’t angry,” the source continued. “She just wants everyone to heal.”

Page Six reported that Knox also appears to be distancing himself from his father, pointing to his Fusion Academy diploma, which listed his name as “Knox Jolie.”

A hearing regarding Vivienne’s name change has been scheduled for Nov. 2.
