Ice Spice has been forced to cancel several performances recently, but that doesn’t mean she’s walking away empty-handed. After explaining her absence from Summer Jam earlier this month by saying she never agreed to the headlining slot outlined in her contract, the Bronx rapper has now pulled out of another scheduled appearance while still receiving partial payment.
According to WKYT, Ice Spice had been booked to perform at Eastern Kentucky University’s Big E Welcome event for the fall semester on August 21. The university said the cancellation was a mutual decision between the rapper and event organizers, citing “due to unforeseen circumstances.”
Despite the show being called off, Ice Spice is still expected to receive 25 percent of her agreed performance fee. FOX 56 reported that the payment amounts to $68,000 from the original $275,000 contract, covering agency-related expenses incurred before the cancellation.
The university also confirmed that all remaining funds set aside for the concert have been returned to the student-funded Eastern Experience account. Although Ice Spice will no longer perform, the Big E Welcome event will still go ahead with other activities, campus resources, and extracurricular programming for students.
The cancellation is undoubtedly disappointing for EKU students, though many will likely be hoping Ice Spice returns for a future performance. In the meantime, the “In Ha Mood” rapper has continued staying busy with appearances on the road.
Most recently, she was among the special guests at A$AP Rocky’s Don’t Be Dumb Tour, making an appearance during the Newark stop that wrapped up the North American leg. Ice Spice shared the spotlight with 50 Cent and members of G-Unit, including Uncle Murda and Tony Yayo, along with other guests such as Skilla Baby and A$AP Twelvyy.
Whether she’ll announce more performances in the near future remains to be seen. Outside of music, Ice Spice has been branching out into other ventures, including video game collaborations and the launch of new fragrances, suggesting she may take a brief pause from touring.
Even so, fans are eager to see her return with new music and more live shows, especially after several recent cancellations. While Ice Spice and her team will still receive partial compensation from the EKU booking, the remaining funds have been redirected to benefit the university’s student-funded programs.
