A 23-year-old YouTuber has gone viral after carrying out an unusual stunt at an alleged scam call center in India, arriving with a crew of dancing SpongeBobs.
Justin Ho entered an office building in Delhi accompanied by six people dressed in oversized SpongeBob SquarePants costumes while carrying a boombox. The video begins with Ho introducing the mission in simple terms: “raid a call center in India.”
The group in SpongeBob costumes made their way past the front desk and reached the main office area, where they turned on loud music and danced around bewildered employees sitting at their desks. When security guards stepped in carrying batons, the thick mascot suits appeared to cushion the blows. The SpongeBobs formed a circle around the guards and continued dancing, holding their position for several minutes before eventually walking away.
In a statement sent to the Hindustan Times via Instagram, Ho explained: “We got information from inside sources that they were a scam. Everyone was scared when we first showed up. Then they started laughing.”
Ho’s stunt is the latest in a growing trend of online creators confronting alleged scam operations. Fraudulent call centers in India have long been accused of posing as Amazon or Microsoft customer support representatives, often targeting victims in the U.S., particularly older adults who may be less familiar with technology.
YouTubers Scammer Payback and Trilogy Media have previously been credited by U.S. federal prosecutors for helping expose a $65 million fraud scheme that allegedly targeted thousands of senior citizens. In 2022, Mark Rober teamed up with Jim Browning and Trilogy Media to target alleged call centers in Kolkata using glitter bombs, stink bombs, and even live cockroaches.
