Meghan Markle Reportedly Planning Acting Return With Role in Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen

Meghan Markle could be making her return to acting, with reports suggesting the Duchess of Sussex is in advanced talks to join Guy Ritchie’s Netflix series The Gentlemen. If finalized, the role would mark her first major acting project since stepping away from Suits nearly a decade ago.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a role is currently being developed for Markle in the upcoming third season of the crime drama, which is filmed in the U.K. The extent of the role, including its size and the number of episodes she would appear in, has not yet been revealed.

Markle reportedly connected with Ritchie through mutual acquaintances. Netflix has not commented on the reported discussions.

Season two of The Gentlemen is scheduled to premiere on September 3.

The reported development comes just days after reports that Markle and Prince Harry are preparing to move back to the U.K. with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The children are said to have been enrolled in a British school starting in September, while Harry and Markle are expected to live at a private residence outside London.

Despite the reported move, there are no indications that either of them plans to return as working members of the British royal family.

If the deal moves forward, The Gentlemen would mark a major return to the acting career Markle left behind in 2017. She starred as paralegal Rachel Zane for seven seasons on Suits before stepping away from the show as her relationship with Harry progressed toward marriage.

The couple married in 2018, later stepping back from their senior royal roles in 2020 after a highly publicized separation from the institution, before relocating to California.

However, entertainment projects remained part of their plans after leaving royal duties. Harry and Markle signed a major Netflix deal following their move to California, producing projects such as Harry & Meghan, Polo, and With Love, Meghan.

The partnership was later adjusted into a first-look arrangement, while Netflix ended its business relationship with Markle’s lifestyle brand As Ever earlier this year.

The couple reportedly plans to keep homes in both California and Portugal while rebuilding their base in the U.K.
