Kevin Hart’s Taco Bell Golf Tournament Could Bring Back a Fan-Favorite Discontinued Menu Item

Taco Bell is giving nine lucky fans the opportunity to hit the golf course in a tournament hosted by Kevin Hart—and one participant could even play a role in bringing a discontinued menu favorite back.

According to an official company announcement, the fast-food chain is introducing its inaugural Live Más Open, a nine-hole tournament hosted by Hart at The Ranch at Laguna Beach on Nov. 2. The 36-player lineup will feature celebrities, professional athletes, creators, and nine everyday golfers who earn their spots through Topgolf.

But don’t expect Taco Bell to turn the event into a traditional golf tournament. The competition will feature unconventional challenges, a live draft, exclusive food offerings, and even a drive-thru located directly on the course.

“I love golf, I love Taco Bell, what could be better than bringing them together for a day of competition and fun,” Hart said. “The tournament is going to be a good time—bring your swag, bring your swing, bring some personality and let’s play.”

Fans have until Sept. 27 to compete for one of the nine available spots. Golfers ages 21 and older can participate in Shot Shuffle at select Topgolf locations, with players who score at least 200 points qualifying for entry into a sweepstakes.

Taco Bell is also providing a free online entry option, so having a strong golf game—or even making a trip to Topgolf—isn’t technically necessary to have a shot at getting selected.

From there, 100 potential contestants will receive a one-month Topgolf Platinum Club Membership along with an invitation to submit a player bio and video. Taco Bell will then narrow the pool down to nine winners, who will travel to Laguna Beach for a live draft. Each qualifying fan will be placed on a foursome alongside one celebrity, one professional athlete, and one creator.

And that’s when things get very Taco Bell.

The winning foursome will take home the inaugural Live Más Open trophy and purple championship jackets. But for fans still grieving the loss of a beloved Taco Bell menu item, there’s an even bigger prize: the winners will help select a discontinued menu item to make a limited-time return at participating restaurants nationwide in 2027.

“Our fans have always shaped this brand, so when we create an experience like this, we want them to be a part of it, not watching from the sidelines,” Taco Bell CMO Luis Restrepo said.

The event comes after Taco Bell recently found itself in the headlines over a very different kind of menu disruption. The chain removed affected lettuce from its restaurants this summer amid a major cyclosporiasis outbreak that was ultimately connected to iceberg lettuce supplied by Taylor Farms de Mexico. The CDC announced that the outbreak was over on Sept. 11, following 12,883 reported illnesses, 570 hospitalizations, and two deaths.
