Iyanna “Yaya” Mayweather has been ordered to pay Lapattra Jacobs $50,105,000 over the 2020 stabbing that stemmed from a dispute involving NBA YoungBoy.
A Texas judge awarded Jacobs $40,105,000 in compensatory damages, along with an additional $10 million in exemplary damages. The judge signed the final judgment on May 20, but the decision only became public after TMZ spotted it this week.
Mayweather, the daughter of five-division boxing champion Floyd Mayweather, and NBA YoungBoy, whose legal name is Kentrell Gaulden, were named as defendants in the lawsuit filed in the 189th Judicial District Court of Harris County, Texas.
The court determined that Mayweather assaulted Jacobs in a manner that amounted to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and that she acted intentionally or knowingly in causing the injuries. The judge also ruled that Jacobs was acting in self-defense, leaving her eligible to receive the full damages awarded.
Although Mayweather had previously appeared in the case, she was not present for the trial. The court placed 100 percent of the responsibility on Mayweather and none on Jacobs. NBA YoungBoy was reportedly at home when the 2020 stabbing occurred.
Past damages included $105,000 in medical expenses, along with $2 million each for pain and mental anguish, physical impairment, lost earning capacity and disfigurement. Roughly another $32 million was allocated to those same categories for future damages.
Because the judge determined that the conduct was intentional and involved a deadly weapon, Texas’ statutory cap on exemplary damages did not apply, allowing the additional $10 million award.
In the criminal case connected to the same incident, Mayweather pleaded guilty in 2022 to felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and received six years of probation through deferred adjudication. The civil judgment now exists alongside that probation sentence, with efforts to collect the award expected to follow.
NBA YoungBoy shares his 5-year-old son, Kentrell Gaulden Jr., with Mayweather. The rapper also reportedly has a 6-year-old child with Jacobs.
