Rumors claiming Quando Rondo had been taken back into custody began making the rounds online over the weekend, but the rapper has denied the reports. He addressed the speculation on his Instagram Story with a short message to his fans. “Don’t listen to that fake news,” Quando wrote.
There have been no credible reports or official records indicating that Quando was arrested again or sent back to federal prison. The confusion may be tied to his current legal situation, which is more complicated than simply being “free.”
Quando, whose legal name is Tyquian Bowman, was transferred out of federal prison and placed in community confinement earlier this year. Complex reported in June that Federal Bureau of Prisons records listed him under RRM Atlanta after his release from FCI Edgefield in South Carolina. According to a BOP representative who spoke with the outlet, community confinement can involve placement in a residential reentry center, commonly called a halfway house, or home confinement.
The transition came after Quando spent roughly 15 months behind bars following a federal drug conviction. He pleaded guilty in 2024 to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and distribute marijuana and received a 33-month sentence. XXL later reported that his sentence was reduced by five months, allowing him to move into community confinement. His projected full release date is still Nov. 11.
As a result, Quando remains under BOP supervision while completing the final portion of his federal sentence. However, available records do not substantiate the social media claims that he has been sent back to jail or prison.
