Sia has reportedly sold a portion of her music catalog to Pophouse in a deal worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, the investment company agreed to pay $180 million for a 50 percent stake in the singer’s catalog, with $165 million of that amount going directly to Sia.
The deal comes after Sia filed for divorce from Dan Bernad last year. The singer recently agreed to pay Bernad $42,500 monthly in child support for their son, who was born in 2024, following months of legal back-and-forth.
As part of the agreement, Bernad will reportedly give up any claim to the $165 million payment in exchange for a $1 million settlement from Sia, leaving the singer with $164 million.
The remaining $15 million, which is connected to songs created during their marriage, will be placed in escrow. If the former couple cannot agree on how the funds should be divided, the matter will be decided at a later time.
Sia is now among the growing list of major artists who have secured massive payouts from selling portions of their music catalogs.
In recent years, several high-profile musicians have made similar deals. Sony acquired Bruce Springsteen’s entire catalog for a reported $550 million, while Katy Perry sold part of her catalog to Litmus Music for $225 million. Justin Bieber also sold his music rights to Hipgnosis Songs Capital for approximately $200 million. Earlier this year, Pophouse itself purchased a majority stake in Tina Turner’s music catalog, along with rights to the late icon’s name, image, and likeness.
The Swedish investment company was founded by ABBA’s Björn Ulvaeus and EQT founder Conni Jonsson. Its portfolio includes deals connected to artists such as Avicii, Swedish House Mafia, and Cyndi Lauper.
