There has been plenty of speculation surrounding Quavo’s family life in recent years, but the rapper has finally begun setting the record straight. He recently revealed that he has a daughter, and it turns out he is actually a father of two.
During a recent appearance on Spotify’s “Countdown To” program with QRÖMELIFE collaborator Yung Miami, Huncho confirmed that he also has a son. The former City Girl questioned the former Migo about the rumors, prompting him to open up about his journey into fatherhood.
“Yes, I am a father,” he shared. “About time. 35. I needed some. I have a boy and I have a girl. It’s a blessing. l’ve been waiting for that for a minute. [My favorite thing about fatherhood is] just being a dad. My dad died [when I was] four, so I just want to be present at all times. I just want to be there, I want to be the man. What’s QRÖMELIFE without bringing in new life, you know? It’s fatherhood. This album, it challenged me, fatherhood challenged me. It put me in a point to where now I got to step up and be responsible.”
The Atlanta rapper has yet to publicly reveal the identity of his children’s mother, though some fans believe it could be former collegiate gymnast Erica Fontaine. The two have been linked romantically for years, but neither has officially confirmed the rumors. Fontaine did, however, fuel speculation after sharing a photo of herself with a baby girl shortly after Quavo introduced his daughter in a short film promoting his new album.
Unfortunately, Quavo’s QRÖMELIFE hasn’t received much praise from fans. However, much of the criticism appears to be directed at Pharrell’s production rather than Quavo himself. In addition to Yung Miami, the album features an impressive lineup of guests, including Tyler, The Creator, A$AP Rocky, T.I., Future, Justin Timberlake, Lil Baby, and Offset.
With Quavo and Offset preparing for a Migos reunion in honor of Takeoff, the two have plenty to discuss and reflect on as they work toward reconciliation. Fatherhood has now become another important part of Quavo’s journey, and we wish Huncho nothing but the best as he embraces this new chapter of his life.
