Michael B. Jordan’s ‘Battlefield’ Film May Be Headed to Sony

Michael B. Jordan’s Battlefield movie is reportedly headed to Sony following a competitive bidding war involving multiple studios.

According to The Wrap, Sony Pictures has emerged as the leading contender to secure the project, although the studio declined to comment on the ongoing negotiations when approached by the publication.

Details surrounding the video game adaptation remain limited, but Jordan is attached to produce and potentially star in the film, while Christopher McQuarrie is set to direct and pen the screenplay.

Other producers include Emerald Neon’s Carter Swan, Electronic Arts’ Jesse Stern, Vertigo’s Roy Lee and Miri Yoon, as well as Outlier Society president Elizabeth Raposo.

Reports indicate that Netflix, Universal, Amazon MGM Studios, Warner Bros. Discovery, and Sony were all competing to acquire the project, making it the center of the year’s biggest bidding war.

The Battlefield franchise has maintained its popularity since the release of Battlefield 1942 in 2002. Over the years, the video game series has grown into a major success, with Battlefield 6, released in 2026, reportedly ranking among the most expensive video games ever developed. The title went on to become the bestselling game of 2025 and the most successful installment in the franchise’s history.

Jordan has also been keeping busy with several Hollywood projects. In addition to developing the Battlefield movie, he is preparing for the release of The Thomas Crown Affair, which is scheduled to arrive next March.
