Tinashe is making it clear that Republican critics are not welcome after her Election Day post on X sparked backlash over a series of blue hearts.
On Tuesday (Nov. 3), the singer encouraged her followers to participate in the midterm elections with a post that read, “VOTE OR DIE ! LETS GO AMERICA,” accompanied by 12 blue heart emojis.
Although Tinashe did not directly identify the candidates or political party she supports, the blue hearts appeared to suggest her support for the Democratic Party.
After several users expressed displeasure over her apparent support for the Democrats, Tinashe dismissed the criticism with a straightforward response, writing, “Yall can go.”
When other fans pointed to the influence of her Republican supporters and threatened to stop listening to her music, Tinashe had another response ready.
“I do not care,” she wrote.
Tinashe has never been one to shy away from expressing her beliefs. In 2020, she appeared on Rolling Stone’s Useful Idiots podcast, where she discussed her activism surrounding the Black Lives Matter protests and the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It’s my responsibility to explain my view on things that matter to me,” she said at the time.
That same year, the singer joined Black Lives Matter protesters during a march in Los Angeles and later spoke out against President Donald Trump’s policies.
