Tennis star Naomi Osaka is kicking off 2024 with some personal news. She took to her Instagram Story on Monday (Jan. 6) to announce that she and rapper Cordae have ended their relationship.
“Hey everyone, I wanted to let you know that Cordae and I have gone our separate ways,” the tennis champ shared. “There’s absolutely no bad blood – he’s an amazing person and fantastic father.”
“I’m truly grateful that our paths crossed because our daughter is the greatest gift in my life, and I’ve grown so much from everything we experienced together.”
The pair’s love story began in April 2019, and about four years later, they welcomed their precious daughter Shai, who’s now 18 months old.
In a TikTok upload before documenting her weight loss journey, Osaka got real about her delivery experience, describing childbirth as “traumatic” and indicating she’s not planning to have “many more” kids.
While Osaka has called being a mom a “blessing,” Cordae recently opened up about fatherhood’s impact on his music career during a chat on The Breakfast Club last month. Around the 6:30 mark, the rapper explained how being a first-time dad has forced him to be more disciplined with his studio hours.
“These days I’ve really had to focus on managing my time, compared to before,” he shared. “As an artist, you’d typically hit the studio from 9 at night till 6 in the morning one day, then maybe 7 PM to 3 AM the next – your schedule was all over the place.”
