Fanum’s dominating the streaming world, but he knows exactly why Hollywood hasn’t knocked on his door.
The entertainment game is changing big time right now. As Forbes breaks it down, the big media players are scrambling for eyeballs and advertising cash while taking hits from folks cutting the cord, jumping to streaming services, and exploring other digital options.
Just look at Twitch – they clocked an incredible 1.7 billion hours of live watching time in Dec. 2024, according to TwitchTracker.
In his chat with GQ, the 27-year-old AMP sensation, who commands an army of 2.7 million Twitch followers, thinks the old guard’s giving him the cold shoulder because they’re still scratching their heads about the whole streaming thing.
“People are still waking up. They still don’t understand what streaming is,” Fanum told GQ‘s Kieran Press-Reynolds. “They’re like, ‘What do you mean, you’re live?'”
Speaking to the magazine, Fanum shared his vision of taking streaming to new heights with Hollywood-quality production, fancy sets, and creator trailers. He got pumped seeing what KSI did with his Big Brother-style show Inside.
“That’s us,” he said. “Just other creators with an idea, and they made it a reality.”
Born to Dominican parents who worked as dentists back home but couldn’t transfer their licenses to the US, Fanum’s come a long way.
GQ confirmed through his team that he’s made millions from streaming, though his folks were pretty confused about his career path at first.
“[My mom] sees the only way out as school. Here’s her son, in a room, just making videos and somehow getting paid. She literally thought I was selling drugs at first,” he said.
But fame’s got its dark side too. Last year, things got ugly when Fanum had to take legal action against NYPD after a cop pulled a gun on him and took his Lamborghini Urus right after the Bronx Dominican Parade wrapped up.
