Winnie Harlow is dishing out all the juicy details about Kyle Kuzma’s proposal.
Just days after Valentine’s Day, the 30-year-old model announced on her Instagram that she and Kuzma, 29, got engaged.
During the latest episode of Call Her Daddy, Harlow told host Alex Cooper she was completely clueless about the upcoming proposal despite her entire team secretly plotting behind the scenes.
“I was the last one to know about it,” Harlow said at the 45-second mark in the video above. “Everyone on my whole team was like, ‘Did you not realize that we’ve been avoiding you for the last two weeks?’ I was like, ‘Well, I was none the wiser.'”
The Canadian model explained how Kuzma suggested a Valentine’s Day getaway to Turks and Caicos but ended up “super sick” during their trip.
The surprise actually kicked off before they even arrived, as the private jet they flew in was decked out with Valentine’s Day decorations, a thoughtful touch that almost brought Harlow to tears.
“I already started watering up, but it was like, ‘OK, stop. Get it together. He wants to read me a poem that he wrote,'” she remembered.
She went on, “Kyle just got traded from the [Washington] Wizards to Milwaukee [Bucks], and we were joking. He’s like, ‘I’m going off to work now. I’ll see you soon. Can’t wait for you to come to Milwaukee.’ I was like, ‘Write me a love letter, my sergeant. Send me a love letter.’ It was just a joke, you know? But he took that and wrote me a love letter to propose. It was the cutest ever. I was tearing up, crying—but crying just because it was so cute. I still had no idea.”
At the poem’s conclusion, Harlow mentioned she thought it would end with him asking her to be his Valentine. To her surprise, it finished with “Will you be my wife?”
“[I] literally just went into shock,” she confessed. “I was already crying and just flooded with tears at that point. He pulled out the box, got on one knee, and I was like, ‘Yes. I don’t even need to see it … Yes, yes, yes.'”
She revealed that the proposal was nearly a family event until Kuzma changed his plans.
“Apparently he wanted to do it in Turks with the family and everything, and just last minute he changed his mind,” Harlow said. “[He] was like, ‘Guys, I’m doing it on the plane.’ Our moms were so mad, like, ‘Tell him he has to do it here … We need to see it. How could he?’
“I love that he did that. It was so beautiful, so romantic, it was just him and I,” she said. “And then, surprise, everyone was in Turks—I had no clue, as well.”
Later in the episode, Harlow shared that Kuzma arranged for her nail tech to fly from Los Angeles to Washington, D.C., to ensure her nails were perfect for the big moment.
The pair have been together since 2020, though the NBA player had previously tried reaching out to her through Instagram.
“So, I got a DM a year prior from my boyfriend and I’d never seen it. I don’t know what the glitch in the system with Instagram is, but that never came up for me,” Harlow explained during a 2021 appearance on The Elle DeDeneres Show. “A year later at the top of quarantine, he DMed me again. He posted a picture of me in an outfit and I was like, ‘Oh, hi.'”
