DDG just released a new track about his custody/visitation struggles with Halle Bailey regarding their son, Halo.
The song, “Don’t Take My Son,” produced by Cash Cobain, directly addresses Bailey as DDG begs to see his child. On the chorus, he sings “Don’t take my son because he’s all I got/I’m just having fun, I don’t love these thots.”
In other parts of the song, he complains about money issues: “Tryna make me pay to see my son, that’s gonna make me hot,” before later adding, “It’s not about the money, it’s more about the principle, you know I’m rich.”
In a separate video, DDG shared his deeper concerns about the situation.
“I just don’t want it to come to the point where he’s like, ‘my pops ain’t around’ and that’s my main thing,” DDG explained.
In a widely shared clip, DDG states he doesn’t want to take Bailey to court because it would be “extremely messy and it don’t have to happen.”
DDG explained he felt he’d run out of options for addressing the situation. “I don’t like putting y’all in my business, but I don’t know what else to do,” he admitted. “But, I know the internet moves people. I just want to see my son, that’s it. I love being a dad and I want to be a dad, plain and simple. I think I’m the first ni**a to ever be canceled for wanting to be a dad.”
On Friday, DDG released a vlog titled “She Won’t Let Me See My Son..” revealing their underlying issues. “I just want to be able to see my son when I want to see my son take my son when I want to take my son,” DDG stated.
“Like, I don’t care if this makes me look childish, If I look like I’m on the internet crazy, whatever–I don’t care, bro,” he continued. “I don’t care what nobody thinks. I literally just want to be in my son’s life.”
While he later acknowledged seeing his son for “very minimal time,” he claimed he streams with women frequently because he can’t “be a dad” when he wants.
“I don’t give a… about hanging around no girls; I want to be around my son, you feel me?” he explained. “But since I can’t be around my son, I’m obviously going to work. I’m not going to sit in the crib look at the wall and cry about this shit.”
