Anthony Mackie Reveals Eminem Used His Personal Life Against Him During ‘8 Mile’ Rap Battle Scene

Anthony Mackie claims Eminem used parts of his actual life in the famous 8 Mile rap battle scene.

During an appearance on The Pivot, Mackie discussed working with Eminem on the iconic hip-hop film where they played rival rappers “Papa Doc” and “B-Rabbit.” According to Mackie, Eminem’s approach to preparing for their confrontation had unexpected consequences.

“We’re on set one day, and he’s like, it doesn’t make sense that we’re beefing,” Mackie explained. “He says, ‘I need something on you.’ So we talked for about two hours, chilling.”

Anthony Mackie explains how Eminem cleverly incorporated details from their personal conversation into the movie’s final battle.

“The day we’re shooting the battle scene, and that’s why I’m looking at him like that,” Mackie shared — referring to his character’s shocked expression.

“‘You’re talking about me, you’re not talking about Clarence,'” Mackie recalled thinking. “I’m going to fight this motherfucker.”

So it seems the details about Clarence attending private school and his parents’ happy marriage were actually pulled from Mackie’s real life. No wonder he looked so rattled on stage while Eminem’s character secured his win.

Eminem might be dropping new music soon after announcing in December that he plans a joint album with 50 Cent.

On the Whoo’s House podcast, Eminem called the collaboration idea “great” and said they “have to stop bullshitting and just do it.”

After seeing these comments, 50 Cent jumped on Instagram, writing: “Looks like I’ll be back in the booth.”
