Azealia Banks Takes Aim at J.K. Rowling Again Over Trans Stance

Azealia Banks has again criticized J.K. Rowling for her anti-trans views, despite Banks’ own history of transphobic comments.

The rapper responded to a tweet by user Imtiaz Mahmood that detailed Rowling’s struggles before her Harry Potter success, including alleged abuse from her ex-husband.

Banks quote-tweeted the post using a transphobic slur while suggesting Rowling’s anti-trans stance stems from personal resentment.

“Maybe her husband at 27 cheated on her with a Tr***ylicious diva and that’s why she’s dedicated every waking moment to making sure her life’s legacy is dedicated to harassing people who make up less than 1% of the global population,” the 33-year-old rapper wrote.

The “212” artist followed up with several tweets criticizing anti-trans rhetoric, arguing that people who target trans women could easily harm cisgender women too.

“Highkey all this anti-trans stuff is really just giving the weird people who solicit transwomen for sex and murder them more fuel to become murderous psychopaths,” Banks continued. “Because if u think a chaser psycho only limits his victims to transwomen and won’t also murder females ur fucking r******d.”

“Nothing in any legislature lists identifying as male or female a crime but murder is listed as a serious crime everywhere in the world,” she added. “If the overarching point of this anti-trans stuff is morality then a humans right to breathe and not be brutally murdered for reasons ill leave to actual psychologists and psychiatrists is tantamount to whatever fucking bullshit about sports and the bathroom.”

“And if you’re going to harp on and on and talk shit about something, it’s really a good idea to examine the situation entirely and know more about what the fuck is really going on in these streets. I would personally prefer transgirls in the bathroom and locker room with me because I’m not going to try and rape, rob or murder them. They are safer in the womens bathroom – where women belong. Jesusssssss,” Banks continued.

In another tweet, she mocked fears about trans women targeting cis women, comparing them to hypothetical fears about older lesbian women in locker rooms.

“And TRUST ME THE DOLLS ARE NOT PREYING ON YA LITTLE FISHY COOTER CAT HONEY. …. and if that is the rationale then can I be the first to say I would not like to be in a locker room with any creepy old white rosie o donell looking type ds cause the old white ds really be trying it,” she tweeted.

“Lmao that sounds so wrong and ridiculous because it is! Imagine saying old d***s should be in the men’s locker room because I have a right to feel safe in womens spaces,” she continued. “When did society become so anti-horny and why are we basically discussing these hypothetical lockerroom porn fantasies out loud in 2025. It’s givingggggggg very much that guys.”

Rowling has long opposed transgender rights, defending her position in detailed essays and once stating she’d go to prison for her views.

Banks herself has faced criticism for transphobic comments. In 2021, according to Pink News, she claimed trans women were just “hot gay boys with beat faces and plastic surgery” and said “getting castrated doesn’t automatically make them a female.”

The Broke With Expensive Taste artist walked back her previous comments just last month.

In a direct tweet to Rowling, Banks claimed she isn’t threatened by trans women and accused the author of hiding insecurity behind “science.” She also revealed that her brother is trans, and she’s witnessed his struggles firsthand.
