Shaboozey Eager for Future Collaboration: ‘That Would Be Awesome’

Shaboozey has his sights set on a Future collaboration.

The “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” breakout star named the Atlanta rapper as his dream collaborator in a recent Holler interview.

“Future. That would be awesome,” Shaboozey said. “I really think a lot of the Atlanta artists grew up in the same neighborhoods, the same towns, the same places that a lot of the country artists are in.

“I’m definitely seeing a lot of hip-hop artists embrace their country roots, because they have them, too,” he continued. “And tonally, too, you put an acoustic guitar with certain chords behind a song, and sometimes it’s a country song. The stories are the same, and the messaging is sometimes the same.”

Shaboozey hinted at upcoming music without confirming a full album.

“There’s no album currently in the works, but there’s definitely something that we’re going to give the fans soon,” he said. “With how successful and how iconic the last project was, I think it’s only right that we give that a little bit of something else, and add a little something to that.”

Speaking with Yahoo Entertainment last month about his role in country music’s evolution, Shaboozey noted musical similarities across genres.

“It shows how much music is an ever-evolving thing,” he said. “When I started on my path, I realized a lot of hip-hop and country artists grew up in the same places. Lainey Wilson is from the same state as Lil Wayne. Teddy Swims, Luke Bryan, and Quavo are all from the same area. We all have the same roots.

“Beyoncé and Linda Martell say in their song ‘Spaghettii’ that ‘genres are a funny little thing,'” Shaboozey continued. “I want to highlight how those genres of music are actually similar. We’re more alike than we are different.”
