Ye Claims ‘3 Moments’ Kept Him from Super Bowl Halftime Show ‘Before I Went Full Nazi’

Ye thinks he knows exactly why he never got to headline a Super Bowl Halftime Show.

In a Monday tweet on his X account, the rapper previously known as Kanye West pinpointed specific career moments he believes kept him from performing on the massive stage.

“I never was allowed to do the Super Bowl because of 3 moments,” he posted. “George Bush don’t care about black people. The Taylor Swift movement moment. Wearing a MAGA hat.”

“How it feel to be the best living and blocked from the main stage because of being ahead of my time,” he continued. “And I mean all of this before I went full Nazi of course.”

Ye’s complicated relationship with Jay-Z, who helps create the shortlist of potential halftime performers through Roc Nation’s partnership with Apple Music, might be another reason keeping him off the Super Bowl stage.

The closest Ye came to the big opportunity was back in 2015 when he co-headlined a pre-Super Bowl show with Rihanna in Glendale, Arizona.

The next year, his supporters rallied behind the hashtag campaign #KanyeWestForSuperBowl51 hoping to get him to perform at Super Bowl LI in Houston, Texas in 2017. Lady Gaga ended up landing that gig instead.

Despite later claiming he doesn’t enjoy Kendrick Lamar’s music, Ye praised K.Dot’s Halftime performance, calling it his “favorite halftime show since like the Michael Jackson era.”
