SZA Convinced Young Fan to Ditch Whippets for a Photo Op

SZA revealed she persuaded a youngster to toss out their nitrous oxide container in return for snapping a pic together.

The singer shared this encounter on her Instagram Story Tuesday (May 20).

“Literally talked a CHILD into throwing away his whippet drugs in exchange for a picture / video at the in n out drive through,” she posted, alongside a snap of a colorful canister of the controversial substance, commonly known as “whippets.”

“Sad but if I can stop this shit for even a second imma try. Once again these drugs are clearly marketed to CHILDREN. Really need America to do better man,” she continued.

SZA’s concern echoes wider alarm about the growing misuse of Galaxy Gas, a brand that sells whipped cream chargers containing nitrous oxide, intended solely for kitchen use.

As Complex’s Trace William Cowen points out, “Galaxy Gas” has become trendy terminology on social media, often used as a catch-all phrase for all nitrous oxide inhalants—despite warnings that these products are exclusively for food preparation.

This marks another instance where SZA has called out this dangerous fad.

“Sorry to be old n annoying but.. Is no one gonna talk about how galaxy gas came out of no where and is being MASS marketed to black children? the government is doing NOTHING ? .. since when are we selling whip its at the store ???? Somebody protect the children,” SZA posted back in September.

She continued, “Something about the childlike designs and marketing is so spooky like .. stars and bright colors? you tryna entice the kids on purpose ? Why when u google does it say it was founded in metro Atlanta in 2021 but no further info …sumn tells me the owner looks like colonel sanders.”

Medical professionals have cautioned about the risks of nitrous oxide misuse, which can cause nerve damage, vitamin B12 deficiency, and in severe instances, partial paralysis.
