Kanye West has offered his perspective on the Diddy trial, revealing that he wishes Kid Cudi hadn’t taken the witness stand.
On Saturday (May 24), the polarizing rapper/producer posted-and-deleted his thoughts on his former protégé’s testimony in the United States v. Sean Combs trial this past week, and offered support to Diddy and his family members, some of whom have been present at the trial.
“I wish Cudi hadn’t testified against Puff,” Ye posted. “We need not to be locked in white systems.”
He continued: “Praying for Puff and his family. Praying for Puff Daddy and the Family.”

Cudi (real name Scott Mescudi) who was summoned as a witness, testified on Thursday (May 22), and revealed that he was romantically involved with Diddy’s ex-girlfriend and former artist, Casandra ‘Cassie’ Ventura, during a period when she and Puff were experiencing relationship issues.
Throughout Cudi’s short-lived romance with the singer, Ventura opened up to him, alleging she was suffering physical abuse at the hands of the Bad Boy music mogul. Diddy, in response, supposedly started targeting Cudi with harassment. One allegation leveled against Diddy involves him destroying the “Day ‘n’ Nite” rapper’s Porsche using a Molotov cocktail following an alleged home invasion.
During a supposed meeting, where both artists were accompanied by Ventura, Cudi confronted Diddy about not admitting to his car’s destruction, though they eventually reconciled at a Soho House party several years afterward.
Cudi was compelled by subpoena to serve as a witness during the trial. Following his testimony, he described the experience as “stressful” in a video where he expressed gratitude to fans for their support.
“I’ve been seeing all the love and support, and I just wanna say thank you so much, man,” he said. “People have been hitting me up the past week just checking in and, and even today, and I just, it really means a lot to me, man.”
“You guys are the best. I love y’all. This is a stressful situation,” he went on. “I’m glad it’s behind me and yeah, I love y’all, man.”
Cudi’s testimony sparked a discussion on social media about whether he was “snitching.” 50 Cent made jokes about Cudi’s car being firebombed, while Young Thug appeared to call the rapper/actor a “rat,” which was addressed by journalist Touré.
Kanye West has previously expressed his respect for Diddy, including during an unexpected appearance at the 2022 BET Awards when the music mogul received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
