Quavo Holds Second Annual Rocket Summit in Atlanta to Tackle Gun Violence

Quavo made his way back to Atlanta to lead the second annual Rocket Summit, an initiative aimed at tackling gun violence through grassroots efforts and community collaboration.

Hosted at the College Football Hall of Fame, the event was organized by Quavo and The Rocket Foundation in memory of his late nephew and Migos bandmate, Takeoff. The summit also aligned with Gun Violence Prevention Month.

This year’s gathering united youth, survivors, local advocates, and leaders in the space. The day kicked off with a VIP luncheon, followed by impactful panels and breakout sessions focused on curbing violence and fostering safer communities.

The summit kicked off with a powerful panel titled The Urgency of Now, featuring voices like Marcus Ellis of Cities United, Angela Ferrell-Zabala from Moms Demand Action, Amber Goodwin of Community Justice, and Dr. Chico Tillmon of the CVI Leadership Academy. Moderated by Rocket Foundation President Greg Jackson, the panel stressed the importance of sustained investment in community violence intervention efforts.

Another standout panel, We Are the Change, spotlighted grassroots leaders such as Leonard Dungee of H.O.P.E. Hustlers and Aaliyah Strong of Tyme to Thrive. They shared how personal experience and deep community connections are key to tackling the root causes of violence.

Attendees also broke into smaller sessions to explore hands-on solutions around youth engagement, legal resources, and policy reform. Mental health support was made available throughout the event, ensuring space for healing and reflection.

The summit wrapped with a keynote conversation featuring Quavo alongside podcast hosts Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson. Quavo emphasized the power of healing and empathy in the fight against gun violence, reaffirming his mission to build a safer future for Atlanta and beyond.
