Tyrone Blackburn, the attorney representing Fat Joe’s former hype man in a $20 million civil lawsuit, was reportedly arrested Wednesday morning for assault after allegedly hitting a process server with his car.
The incident, which allegedly occurred in May, resulted in a “minor injury” to the server. According to a report from TMZ citing a New York police spokesperson, Fat Joe’s legal team claims Blackburn struck the individual intentionally in an attempt to dodge being served court papers.
The arrest adds another twist to the ongoing legal saga between Terrance Dixon and Fat Joe, who had previously filed a lawsuit against Dixon and Blackburn, accusing them of extortion and defamation.
“Tyrone Blackburn’s arrest comes as no surprise to me – it’s just the latest example of his malicious and manipulative pattern of misconduct finally coming to light,” said Joe’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina, in a statement on Wednesday. “Blackburn is an embarrassment to the legal profession and it’s a disgrace watching him use the court system to shield his extortion tactics.”
Tacopina added, “This is exactly why Mr. Cartagena proactively sued Blackburn and his client Terrance Dixon in April—because he knew they intended to try to destroy his reputation by peddling salacious lies. Today’s arrest is just the first step, but I’m confident that my client’s name will be cleared from all of these falsehoods and Blackburn will be brought to justice once and for all.”
Just last week, Fat Joe’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina, blasted Terrance Dixon’s lawsuit as “a blatant act of retaliation” and “a desperate attempt to deflect attention from the civil suit we filed first.” He further claimed that Dixon and Blackburn were trying to extort his client through “lies, threats, and manufactured allegations.”
In Joe’s own legal filing, Dixon is described as more than just a former hype man — he’s labeled as a lyricist, background vocalist, security team member, and creative collaborator. Joe’s team has continued to publicly challenge Blackburn’s legal tactics and credibility.
50 Cent, who was also mentioned in Dixon’s lawsuit, wasted no time responding. As expected, he addressed the claims on Instagram, writing in part, “These baseless accusations and claims are not credible.”
