Woman Details How She Ended Up Voicing the Gun on 2Pac’s “Me and My Girlfriend”

The woman behind the gun voice on 2Pac’s “Me and My Girlfriend” has finally shared how it all happened.

In a video posted by X user @Evolving_Eric — who says his father is Eric from Eric B. & Rakim — his mother, known on YouTube as Virginya Slim, tells the story of how she ended up on the legendary track from 2Pac’s 1996 album The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory.

According to her, it all started when she picked him up from a club that night.

“All he wanted to do was talk about this album he was working on and this idea for a song called ‘My Girlfriend,’” she recalled. “He broke down the concept and said he needed to bring the gun to life. It just wouldn’t hit the same if the gun didn’t have a voice.”

She went on to reveal that she was working at Death Row Records at the time and had hired a few women to do the voiceover—but none of them delivered what was needed. “The engineers would come back a week later saying, ‘It didn’t work. It wasn’t good enough. It didn’t have the passion a gun would have,’” she explained. “The album deadline was coming fast and the engineers were like, ‘We still don’t have the song finished.’”
