Ashanti is wondering how Nelly manages to sleep through their baby crying in the middle of the night.
In a recent episode of their reality series Nelly and Ashanti: We Belong Together, the couple opened up about adjusting to life with their newborn—especially as Nelly prepares to hit the road for his tour, leaving Ashanti with more time at home.
“It’s just with the baby, it’s a lot,” Ashanti shared. “I’m trying to understand how is it that you sleep through when he starts crying?”
Nelly jokingly responded, “Do y’all really be up at night? I heard about it.”
In a throwback clip, Nelly could be seen telling Jermaine Dupri and others that diaper duty isn’t on his to-do list. “Cause once he get to walking and talking, he with the crew,” Nelly said, making it clear Ashanti would be handling most of the baby duties—at least for now.

Nelly and Ashanti opened up more about their parenting dynamic during a chat with The Shade Room, where Nelly admitted he’s been on “cruise control” when it comes to raising their son—but made it clear he’s fully backing Ashanti every step of the way.
“Just watching her go through it, I know what this truly meant to her,” he said. “I know she always wanted kids, and I know in this business, timing doesn’t always work out. Some artists go their whole careers without ever getting to experience this.”
He added, “She knows I’m here. She knows she has the support. She knows whatever she needs, I provide—and that includes nannies.”
