Eminem Calls Back to Kanye West’s Cousin Drama in New JID Collab: ‘I Act Out Like Ye and His Cousin’

Eminem doesn’t hold back on his feature for JID’s new EP GDLU (Preluxe)—especially when it comes to name-dropping Ye and stirring controversy.

On the third verse of “Animals (Pt. 1),” Em goes on a lyrical rampage, throwing jabs at fellow artists like 50 Cent, N.W.A., Diddy, and Ja Rule. But the most eyebrow-raising moment comes when he references Kanye West’s shocking confession from his earlier 2024 track “Cousins.”

“With these magazines, I act out like Ye and his cousin,” Eminem spits. “Little cocksucker, I’m sprayin’ and bustin’ / Your shit suck dick, stop sayin’ it doesn’t / That’s probably the reason there’s nothin’ you’ve bodied of recent / I feel like I just walked in and seen you naked, ‘cause you not even decent.”

True to form, Em doesn’t shy away from uncomfortable bars, turning a deeply disturbing revelation into a biting punchline—and sparking yet another wave of conversation around both Ye and his own razor-sharp pen.

Back in April, Ye sparked intense backlash with his track “Cousins,” where he shared a disturbing childhood confession about a sexual encounter with a male cousin.

“We seen two n***as kissing, we ain’t know what that shit mean,” Ye rapped on the unreleased song, which isn’t available on streaming platforms. “Then we start reenacting everything that we had seen / That’s when I gave my cousin head… I told my cousin not tell nobody / Please don’t make me take it to my grave / The truth will set you free someday / I don’t think they understand, that I’m not attracted to a man.”

The track dropped in the midst of ongoing controversy surrounding Ye, including his troubling embrace of Nazi rhetoric. Following the release, Ye claimed “everyone loves” him for being honest, but the reception told a different story.

Charlamagne dismissed the song as a “publicity stunt,” while Cam’ron called the confession “just too convenient,” echoing the sentiments of many who found the reveal more disturbing than redemptive.
