Nicki Minaj’s long-simmering tension with Jay-Z over the Tidal deal is back in the spotlight—this time, thanks to her loyal Barbz.
On Thursday (July 3), fans took to X to air out their frustrations, claiming Hov still owes Nicki both cash and an apology for allegedly not paying her full dues after selling Tidal.
“#jayz owes Nicki Minaj money & a apology,” one fan wrote. Another added, “#JayZ should of paid Nicki Minaj her cut of the Tidal deal.”
Nicki chimed in with a pair of responses—dropping a laughing-crying emoji to the first and following up with another tears-of-laughter emoji for the second, clearly amused by the fan-fueled outrage.

Back in September, Nicki Minaj let loose on X, claiming she never received her fair share from the Tidal deal. According to her, she was only offered a $1 million payout—far less than the estimated $9 million she was reportedly owed based on her equity stake. She called it a “scam” and said the offer felt like an attempt to “silence” her. Nicki said she rejected the amount and accused Tidal of spreading false information about how much artists actually made after Jay-Z sold the platform.
On Thursday, Nicki also addressed a separate X post tied to a conspiracy theory suggesting she could be facing criminal charges over allegedly assaulting her former manager. That ex-manager reportedly filed an assault and battery lawsuit against her earlier this year, back in January.
