Dr. Phil believes Ye and Kim Kardashian’s ongoing custody battle could result in their children being placed in foster care.
The psychologist (real name Phil McGraw) shared his thoughts on the March 26 episode of 2 Angry Men podcast with TMZ’s Harvey Levin and attorney Mark Geragos. The episode covered Kim’s growing co-parenting conflict with Ye and how it affects their kids: North, 11; Saint, 9; Chicago, 7; and Psalm, 5.
“As a parent, you have an undivided loyalty to your children,” Dr. Phil stated. “You’ve got to take whatever measures are necessary to protect their physical, mental, emotional wellbeing. If you can negotiate that… and you can predict that’s going to stick, then obviously that’s great. And if you cannot, if they make agreements and don’t keep them… then you must immediately — and with intention ‚ seek whatever methods available under the law to compel the other side to comply and do what’s necessary.”
Though Dr. Phil hasn’t met Ye and couldn’t “render an opinion on what his pathology is,” he noted Ye’s “troubling” behavior might require Kim to take legal action.
“If you need an emergency intervention, then you get an emergency intervention,” he added. “What we do not want is for these children to wind up in foster care because that system is broken… If you think, well, with this kind of money, they’re not gonna wind up in foster care… that’s wrong.”
Dr. Phil warned it’s “absolutely” possible for both parents to lose custody if courts determine Ye posed a risk and Kim failed to protect their children.
“If the DCF (Department of Children and Families) gets involved and thinks one parent isn’t reacting while the other is unstable, they will take them,” he explained. “Now, they’re likely to place them with family members rather than strangers, but you don’t want these children left hanging out to dry.”
Kim and Ye married in 2014 and finalized their divorce eight years later. Their relationship recently deteriorated when Ye declared he was ready for “war” after discovering Kim owned their eldest daughter’s name trademark. He also accused the Kardashians of sex trafficking their children.
“The Kardashians are sex workers and they sex traffic all of the black children they strategically produce,” he posted on social media. “Kim Kardashian is a sex trafficker.”
Sources told Page Six Kim is “terrified” by Ye’s erratic behavior, with one insider saying: “It’s not getting any better, he’s not a well person, he’s sinking further down and he’s not acting rationally. There’s so much negativity — I don’t think he can come out of this.”
