‘Empire’ Mansion Finally Sells for $6.5 Million After Sitting on Market for 12 Years

The iconic mansion from hit musical drama Empire finally found a buyer after spending 12 years on the market.

According to Chicago Business, the lavish estate, nestled in Barrington Hills about 40 miles outside Chicago, changed hands on April 25 for $6.5 million. That’s a staggering 41 percent drop from the original $15.9 million price tag when the property first hit the market back in June 2013.

By 2019, the asking price had been slashed to $9.5 million, Mansion Global reports, thanks to sluggish demand.

“Every detail was created from the finest materials to create the feel of luxury in each and every room,” boasts the home’s listing.

The mansion served as the impressive digs of Empire‘s fictional kingpin Lucious Lyon, played by Terrence Howard, his wife Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson) and their sons, Jamal (Jussie Smollett), Andre (Trai Byers), and Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray).

Empire wrapped up its run in 2020 after six drama-filled seasons.

Despite the major price cut, the mansion still ranks as the ninth-highest sale among all Chicago properties this year. The stunning lakefront estate was built back in 2008 by Geralyn and Sam Cecola, who own the local strip club, the Admiral Theater.
