Chrissy Teigen Says She’s Staying Honest About Ozempic — Even With Her Kids

Chrissy Teigen has long been known for her unfiltered honesty, and that includes opening up about the not-so-glamorous sides of her life.

Speaking at Hello Sunshine’s Shine Away event in Los Angeles, the 39-year-old model explained why she decided to be transparent about using Ozempic—and why that level of honesty is especially important when it comes to her kids.

“I would want my daughter…or son, if Miles wants to venture into hair plug territory or something, I would want them to know that it’s not about pretending to be perfect,” Teigen told People. “It’s about being open and honest about what it feels to make you feel better.”

That kind of transparency didn’t come instantly. Teigen shared that she first turned to Ozempic after the devastating miscarriage she and husband John Legend experienced in 2020, when they lost their son Jack at 20 weeks.

The grief was only intensified by the physical changes that followed. Speaking on the Self-Conscious podcast in September, she recalled how hard it was to look at her body afterward. “I really let myself indulge when I was pregnant,” she said. “So, when I had lost that baby at 20 weeks, I had probably gained an extra 40 pounds that I wasn’t comfortable with.”

It wasn’t the weight itself that troubled her most, but rather, as she described it, falling into a “deep depression of seeing this pregnant belly with no baby in it.” For Teigen, using Ozempic became part of finding stability and control in the aftermath of immense loss.

Her decision to speak publicly about it, she said, came from the same place that made her share her miscarriage story in the first place.

“Since the beginning of social media, I’ve always wanted people to know that things weren’t as fluffy and beautiful as they may seem,” Teigen said. She hopes her openness helps others “feel a lot better about their families, themselves, their own bodies.”

Still, that honesty often invites criticism. “People will say, ‘Are you pregnant?’ And then the next week…they’ll be like, ‘Well, why’d you do Ozempic? You’re too skinny,’” she said. The constant back-and-forth, she added, is proof that “you could never win with anything.”
