Tank opened up about being dropped from Fat Joe’s Rewind It 10 campaign, cracking a joke that he might just have to “pull up” on the Terror Squad boss.
During the Friday (November 21) episode of The Breakfast Club, the singer talked about his short-lived run with the hair care brand Joe co-founded with his wife, Carolyn Aronson. While chatting about Rewind It 10, Tank said he was fired and swapped out for N.O.R.E.
“One day, I was asking to change my picture because the picture on the box looks looks like they put a crackhead filter on me,” the R&B Money co-host recalled. “And I said I said, ‘Joe, that’s not how I look. I never look like that. Somebody hated on me. Can you please change the picture?'”
Fat Joe told Tank the photo would be updated, but nothing ever changed — and that delay eventually pushed Tank over the edge.
“We went through months and months and months of please change the picture. Finally, I’m like, ‘Joe, this is getting disrespectful,'” Tank said. “Next thing I know, I’m getting a letter in the mail. ‘You will not be renewed for…’ and never changed the picture. Look at how they did me.”
Tank went on to say he believes he was pushed out and replaced by N.O.R.E., noting that Fat Joe still hasn’t reached out. Since he’s currently in New York for Alicia Keys’ Hell’s Kitchen Broadway musical, he joked that he might just “pull up on” Joe.
A few minutes later, DJ Envy chimed in, revealing he had texted Joe to let him know Tank was dropping by the station — but Joe never replied. “He ain’t hit me back since the firing,” Tank added.
Even though Fat Joe didn’t reply to DJ Envy or reach out to Tank directly, he did jump into the comments of The Breakfast Club’s Instagram post — and he had something to say. Joe claimed Tank was the one who actually sent in the photo used on the box.
Tank quickly clapped back, calling Joe “Captain Cap” and warning, “Don’t do this! You know I have receipts.”
