Lil Tjay Reacts to Offset Shooting: “I’m Just as Confused As Everyone Else”

Lil Tjay says he’s still “confused” about the incident that went down outside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, where Offset was shot earlier this month.

Speaking with Billboard about his upcoming album They Just Ain’t You, Tjay briefly addressed the situation he was reportedly tied to. “I’m just as confused as everyone else about that,” he said. “My lawyer told me not to touch on it too much. What I can say is the album will really hit home for my fans.”

The shooting happened on April. 6 following an alleged altercation involving Lil Tjay and people from his camp. Tjay was later arrested and charged with misdemeanor disorderly conduct. After getting out, he claimed Offset accused him on the spot.

“The last thing I see was Offset looking at me like this: ‘Yo, that n***a shot me, that n***a shot me!’” Tjay said. “N***a is a rat, n***a. … I didn’t do no damn fighting. Did I shoot? That shit is crazy. I will smack the shit out of Offset. He would never play like that with me in his life. Ask Offset.”

Shortly after, his lawyer, Dawn Florio, pushed back on the claims, insisting he wasn’t involved in the altercation beyond causing a disturbance. “The only thing that Lil Tjay was being looked into for was for creating a disturbance,” she said. “Those are the charges that he’s fighting. As far as I’m aware, there’s no charges related to shooting Offset. There’s video everywhere — there’s no video that shows that Tjay is involved in any of this.”

Offset later responded after being called a rat, hopping on social media with “u ain’t buss nun,” which seemed to back up that Tjay wasn’t the shooter.

A few days after the incident, Offset shared an update, thanking fans for their support.

“I’m good….but I’m planning to be better!” he wrote. “I’m focused on my family, my recovery, and getting back to the music…realizing that life is made up of quiet wins and loud losses…. Life’s a gamble, and I’m still playing to win.”

During an appearance on the Creators Inc. podcast, Offset also revealed he’s already back to work, performing and doing interviews just days after the shooting.

“Gotta keep pushing, like the Energizer Bunny, man,” he said. “Keep this shit pushing. We don’t got time to be slowing down.”
