Jim Jones Crowns Drake the GOAT and Applauds His Songwriting Skills

Drake’s latest run of releases has once again sparked debate across the music world, and Jim Jones believes very few artists can command that kind of attention.

The conversation surrounding Drake continues to dominate headlines, with supporters and peers standing firmly behind the rap superstar amid the mixed reactions to his recent projects. In recent weeks, Drake released ICEMAN, HABIBTI, and MAID OF HONOUR. While dedicated fans have praised the trio of releases, critics have been less enthusiastic. Regardless, all three projects have posted impressive chart performances and shattered records, reinforcing Drake’s ability to remain at the top of the game.

Jim Jones recently made it clear that he’s still firmly in Drake’s corner during an appearance on The Danza Project.

“The whole battle with Kendrick and people were like, ‘Where’s Drake at?’” Jones said. “I’m happy for that brother. When you’re operating on that level, people expect greatness. None of this surprises me. When your pen game is as strong as his, it’s hard to fall off. He’s playing on a different level. Shout out to Drake, the whole OVO family, Kendrick, and both sides. But definitely shout out to my guy Drizzy.”

Jim Jones also pointed to a few artists he believes could have generated the same level of buzz as Drake by releasing three projects in quick succession.

According to the Dipset rapper, legends like Jay-Z and Tupac Shakur, at the height of their careers, had the star power and influence to pull off a similar feat. However, when it came to today’s artists, Jones struggled to name anyone who could match Drake’s current level of impact. He emphasized that his comments weren’t meant to diminish the accomplishments of other artists.

One of the interview hosts suggested Tory Lanez as a possible comparison, but Jones wasn’t convinced.

“I love Tory,” Jones said. “Whatever album he puts out is probably going to hit and people are going to enjoy it. But three albums? Tory right now? We haven’t really seen him. He doesn’t have that momentum. It’s different. The kind of power Drake has, the marketing machine behind him, the strategy, the subtle messages—it’s a whole different level.”
