After months of making headlines for legal battles and personal matters, Britney Spears is capturing attention for a stylish new transformation.
According to InStyle, the pop icon recently collaborated with celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton, who revealed her refreshed look in a social media post on June 1. Appleton, whose celebrity client list includes Kim Kardashian, Nicole Kidman, Martha Stewart, and Drew Barrymore, shared a selfie with Spears that showcased her sleek, straightened hair—a noticeable departure from the wavier styles fans have become accustomed to seeing in recent years.
For much of the past few years, Spears has typically worn her hair in loose waves and textured styles, both on social media and during public appearances. In Appleton’s latest photo, however, the singer debuted a sleek, straight hairstyle with a side part, representing one of her most dramatic hair changes in recent memory. She completed the look with an orange floral dress while posing alongside the celebrity stylist.
Appleton used the opportunity to share his admiration for Spears and reflect on her influence throughout his life and career. “As a kid growing up in England, Britney Spears was the soundtrack to so many moments,” he wrote. “Never in a million years did I think I’d one day be standing behind the chair … styling her hair.”
He also spoke highly of the pop star on a personal level, describing her as “one of the most genuinely kind and gentle souls” he has ever met.
The makeover comes during a particularly busy and headline-filled period for Spears. In recent months, much of the attention surrounding the singer has centered on matters outside of music and fashion. She recently threatened legal action against a former bodyguard, alleging that he accessed her personal devices and iCloud account without permission.
Spears has also faced public attention following reports of an arrest on suspicion of DUI.
Amid the scrutiny, her former husband Sam Asghari urged the public to show compassion and respect her privacy, reminding fans that “everybody makes mistakes.”
The fresh new hairstyle also represents a noticeable departure from Spears’ previous hair transformation that drew widespread attention. Back in 2022, she briefly dyed her hair purple and jokingly told fans that she simply wanted a change because she was bored.
