Jennifer Lopez Reflects on Her Body Shutting Down After Working “98 Days in a Row”

Jennifer Lopez is looking back on one of the most alarming experiences of her career, revealing that she ended up in the hospital after working nearly 100 straight days without a proper break—a grueling period that briefly caused her to lose her vision.

During an appearance on the SmartLess podcast, the multi-hyphenate star reflected on a hectic chapter in the early 2000s when her acting, music, and promotional schedules all overlapped at the peak of her fame. According to Lopez, she was juggling movie shoots, recording sessions, music video productions, and nonstop media appearances, all while failing to recognize just how long she had been pushing herself without rest.

“I remember not realizing that I had worked something like 98 days straight without a single day off,” Lopez said. At the time, she was filming Enough while also balancing several other projects, including promotional work tied to her hugely successful J.Lo album.

According to Lopez, the first signs that something was wrong began showing up while she was on set. She recalled feeling unusually anxious and physically uneasy before filming scenes, with what seemed like simple nerves quickly escalating into a much more serious situation.

“Every time I walk to the set, I start getting a little pitter-patter in my heart,” she explained. After telling a young co-star that she felt “a little weird,” Lopez headed back to her trailer.

What happened next left her terrified.

“All of a sudden, like, I just couldn’t see,” Lopez recalled. “It was almost like I couldn’t see clearly, like something just went over my eyes, and I couldn’t move.” She immediately called for her longtime friend and assistant, saying, “Arlene, I can’t move. I can’t see.”

The frightening episode resulted in an emergency hospital visit, where Lopez feared she might be experiencing a mental health breakdown.

“Am I going crazy?” she remembered asking a doctor.

The diagnosis, however, pointed to a different cause. Lopez said the doctor explained that her body had essentially reached its limit and shut down due to extreme exhaustion.

The revelation comes as Lopez navigates another major life change. Recently, she has spoken openly about her 18-year-old twins, Max and Emme Muñiz, graduating from high school and preparing to begin college.

She also shared that both of her children, who have ADHD, were accepted into every college they applied to and earned scholarships along the way—accomplishments she said were the result of years of dedication and hard work.

As the twins get ready to leave home, Lopez admitted the transition has been emotional, revealing that she has been “crying for two months” over the milestone.
