Jay-Z’s opening night at Yankee Stadium was equally unforgettable. The show kicked off with a video of Beyoncé giving him a haircut before he performed the fan-favorite “Feelin’ It” alongside his daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, who accompanied him on piano.
The hip-hop icon also reunited with former rival Nas, as the pair delivered a medley of “The World Is Yours,” “Dead Presidents,” and “N.Y. State of Mind,” marking another memorable moment in the show.
The surprises continued with appearances from Alicia Keys, Jaz-O, and Memphis Bleek, who each joined Hov onstage.
Keeping up the tradition he introduced at the Roots Picnic earlier this year, Jay-Z also debuted a new freestyle touching on several current topics, including the criticism surrounding his ongoing partnership with Target.
After performing “Politics As Usual,” he addressed the controversy by rapping, “I don’t listen to Twitter activists, they type, and I laugh at them / It’s really no comparison.”
Later in the show, Jay-Z also responded to those who have labeled him a “sellout.”
“They say I sold out,” he told the crowd. “Yeah, I did sell out. Three nights. I sold Yankee Stadium the hell out.”
