Prince William Was Not Nominated for a Daytime Emmy, But Meghan Markle Was in the Running for One

Prince William did not earn an Emmy nomination, while Meghan Markle did.

According to BuzzFeed (via Yahoo! News), the clarification became necessary after British tabloids incorrectly claimed that the Prince of Wales had received “two Emmy nominations” due to his appearance in an episode of Eugene Levy’s Apple TV+ series The Reluctant Traveler. The reports surfaced shortly after With Love, Meghan, the Netflix lifestyle series hosted and executive-produced by Markle, received a legitimate Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lifestyle Program.

William appeared in the episode “Living the Royal Life in the UK,” where he gave Levy a tour of Windsor Castle before the two enjoyed a pint together. During the episode, William opened up about fatherhood, the future of the monarchy, and the emotional challenge of seeing King Charles and Kate Middleton go through cancer treatment.

“I’d say 2024 was the hardest year I’ve ever had,” William told Levy. “Life is sent to test us, as well. And being able to overcome that is what makes us who we are.”

Although the episode may have brought more attention to the series, William is not among its Emmy nominees. The Outstanding Writing for a Nonfiction Program nomination belongs to writers David Reilly and Christine Rose.

The show’s second nomination, Outstanding Hosted Nonfiction Series or Special, honors the program as a whole rather than an individual guest who appeared in an episode.

Markle’s nomination, however, works differently. If With Love, Meghan wins its category, she would earn an Emmy as one of the series’ executive producers.

“A huge congratulations to the amazing crew, producers, and team who worked on With Love, Meghan on Netflix,” Markle wrote on Instagram. “We are nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Lifestyle Series!”

The confusion came after criticism from anti-Markle social media groups, including self-described “Kate’s Rangers,” who critics have dubbed “derangers” because of their ongoing focus on the Duchess of Sussex.

Some users accused Markle of “buying” the nomination, while tabloids later began framing William’s brief television appearance as an achievement equal to—or greater than—the actual Emmy recognition.

With Love, Meghan premiered in March 2025 and ran for two seasons along with a holiday special. The Netflix lifestyle series featured cooking, gardening, and entertaining segments with guests such as Mindy Kaling, Chrissy Teigen, and Tan France. Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland, and Prince Harry also appeared in the series.
