NBA YoungBoy Reveals He’s Taking a Break From Music Over Heart Health Issues

Few rappers have matched NBA YoungBoy’s relentless release schedule in recent years. While his projects don’t always dominate the Billboard charts, his loyal fanbase has consistently supported every release. Lately, though, his output has slowed, and fans may need to be patient as the rapper shifts his focus to his health.

During a recent interview with Funny Marco, set to be released on Tuesday, August 11, NBA YoungBoy revealed that music is no longer his top priority because of a medical issue.

When asked how many more albums he believes he has left in him, he responded, “Music is not something I’m focused on. The doctor told me the left side of my heart was swollen. That explains the music, though.”

The revelation is understandably concerning, especially with the rapper set to turn 27 later this year. Compared to previous years, NBA YoungBoy has released far less music in 2026. He dropped ML2 in June after releasing Slime Cry a few months earlier.

Although many fans believe he still has a large collection of unreleased songs in the vault, it remains unclear whether he plans to release any of that material while prioritizing his health.

The upcoming episode of Funny Marco’s Open Thoughts will mark one of NBA YoungBoy’s rare media appearances. Although Marco is best known for his humorous interview style, the preview suggests this conversation will dive into more personal topics, with the rapper speaking candidly about everything from the meaning behind some of his tattoos to moments when he felt hopeless.
