Selena Gomez Pushes To Dismiss Fraud Lawsuit, Calls Claims “Baseless”

Selena Gomez is preparing to challenge a lawsuit accusing her mental health startup, Wondermind, of fraud.

The lawsuit, filed on Thursday (August 13) against Wondermind SRS 44 LLC and Bespoke Wondermind LLC, alleges that Gomez, her mother Mandy Teefey, and former business partner Daniella Pierson failed to meet obligations tied to $1 million in investor funding. The plaintiffs also claim the trio misrepresented Wondermind’s infrastructure, leadership, and assets, and are seeking unspecified damages in addition to the return of their investments.

Among the lawsuit’s more eye-catching allegations is the claim that Teefey missed key meetings, downplayed concerns over missed payroll, and relied on Ritalin.

On Saturday, Gomez’s attorney, Mathew S. Rosengart, addressed the lawsuit in a statement to People, strongly rejecting the accusations against the singer and actress.

“The allegations that Selena Gomez engaged in any way whatsoever in any purported ‘fraud’ or other wrongdoing are completely meritless, both factually and legally,” Rosengart said. “We will vigorously defend these false allegations and indeed are filing a motion to dismiss the baseless claims against her.”

Wondermind debuted in 2022 as what it described as the “first mental fitness ecosystem,” with the goal of creating a supportive community through digital content, podcasts, articles, and other mental health resources. Gomez, who also founded the cosmetics company Rare Beauty, officially reached billionaire status in late 2024, with an estimated net worth of $1.3 billion.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight at the time, Gomez admitted she wasn’t comfortable discussing her wealth, calling the topic “distasteful.” Still, she expressed appreciation for the fans who helped make her success possible, saying she was “grateful” for their continued support.
