Keke Palmer Shares Her One Key Piece of Advice for ‘The Voice: Celebrity’ Contestants

Keke Palmer has a straightforward message for the celebrities getting ready to take the stage on The Voice: Celebrity: Just get up there and do it. As the new host of the show, Palmer is encouraging contestants to take the leap and embrace being beginners again, even if they have already achieved success in other fields.

“There’s nothing to it but to do it,” Palmer said, per NBC News. “The worst thing that can happen is you learn something new, and you get better.”

Her advice speaks directly to the idea behind the upcoming NBC spinoff. When The Voice: Celebrity premieres in 2027, actors, athletes, comedians, influencers, reality stars, and other well-known figures will step outside their usual careers to take on the Blind Auditions.

Rather than helping unknown singers chase their big break, coaches Joe Jonas, Queen Latifah, and Riley Green will form teams made up of celebrities ready to put their voices—and perhaps their egos—to the test.

Palmer believes that fresh start could offer viewers something beyond a typical singing competition. “Whatever dreams and other outside things you want to do, maybe you’re inspired by seeing these people who are already successful in one field still try to do something that they got to start at level one from,” she said.

The concept also makes Palmer a fitting choice for the hosting role. Throughout her career, she has explored acting, music, comedy, producing, writing, and hosting, with projects ranging from Hustlers and Nope to her Emmy-winning work on Password.

“I’m excited about the fact that this season is about celebrities and people that don’t do what they’re coming here to do,” Palmer said. “I think that I’m somebody that always believes in doing something new, trying on a different hat.”

Earlier in August, NBC announced that Palmer would replace Carson Daly as host for the celebrity edition. Daly, who has hosted The Voice since its debut in 2011, is not stepping away from the franchise. He will remain a producer, assist with launching the new spinoff behind the scenes, and return for future seasons of the original format. Daly called Palmer a “triple threat queen” and said she was the “perfect” person to lead the spinoff.

The celebrity edition will also introduce several new spaces aimed at showing what happens away from the main stage. Voice Boot Camp will follow contestants as they prepare for their Blind Auditions, while the VIP Room will allow them to watch each other’s performances in real time.

During the Battles, the Workroom will give viewers a closer look at rehearsals and strategy. Jonas will make his debut as a coach, while Queen Latifah and Green return after appearing on Season 30.

The new role comes during another major moment in Palmer’s career. She was recently named as part of the Hollywood Walk of Fame’s 2027 class and also expanded her Lady Miss Jacqueline character into three full-length Audible Originals. The digital sketches featuring the Southern diva had previously generated more than 100 million views across social media.
